Information Technology Specialist – IT Support & Venue Technology Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a 7-month fixed-term contract commencing on 15 August 2026 and concluding on 28 February 2027. This critical role will be based primarily within stadiums and tournament-related venues, providing comprehensive technical support throughout venue preparation, technology testing, rehearsals, and live football tournament operations. The successful candidate will serve as a pivotal link between IT help desk services, venue technology coordination, troubleshooting, and IT asset management, ensuring seamless operational continuity during high-stakes events.
Core Responsibilities
The Information Technology Specialist will be responsible for delivering first- and second-line IT support to venue teams, employees, contractors, and operational stakeholders. Key duties include:
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Installing, configuring, and resolving issues related to laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other IT equipment. Addressing hardware, software, Microsoft 365, email, user-access, network, Wi-Fi, and connectivity challenges with efficiency and precision.
- Incident Management: Logging, prioritizing, and tracking incidents through the designated IT help desk or ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing operational disruption.
- Venue Technology Setup & Testing: Setting up and testing IT equipment across stadium offices, accreditation areas, workforce centers, meeting rooms, control rooms, and other operational spaces. Conducting pre-event technology checks to validate functionality before rehearsals, matchdays, and live tournament activities.
- Live Event Operations: Operating from the venue IT help desk or technology operations center during live events, responding immediately to matchday incidents and prioritizing issues based on their operational impact. Maintaining live incident logs and providing regular updates until critical issues are resolved.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinating with network, telecommunications, audiovisual, access-control, and specialist technology teams to ensure integrated and seamless operations.
- IT Asset Management: Preparing, issuing, tracking, and recovering IT equipment allocated to venue teams. Maintaining accurate IT asset registers, equipment handover records, and inventory reports. Ensuring the availability of spare laptops, chargers, cables, adapters, and other essential equipment at the venue.
- Venue Decommissioning: Supporting the decommissioning process and final equipment reconciliation at the end of the project, ensuring all IT assets are accounted for and securely managed.
- Compliance & Reporting: Adhering to all IT security, cybersecurity, access-control, and data-protection requirements. Preparing daily reports covering incidents, outstanding issues, equipment status, and operational risks to maintain transparency and accountability.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in IT support, desktop support, IT help desk, or venue technology. Prior experience supporting stadiums, football tournaments, sporting events, or major live events is highly advantageous.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and standard IT equipment. Experience troubleshooting wired networks, Wi-Fi, VPN, and general connectivity issues. Familiarity with Active Directory, user-access administration, and IT ticketing systems is essential.
- IT Asset Management: Proven ability to manage IT assets and equipment inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and efficient distribution.
- Operational Resilience: Capacity to remain calm and resolve technical issues swiftly during live operations, maintaining composure under pressure.
- Communication & Coordination: Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-coordination skills to facilitate seamless collaboration across teams.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage.
- Certifications: ITIL, CompTIA, or Microsoft certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
