The Customs Investigation Specialist plays a pivotal role in conducting thorough investigations into smuggling cases that extend beyond administrative resolution. This involves meticulous assessment of seizure reports, verification of evidence, and preparation of comprehensive case files for escalation, ensuring strict adherence to established laws, procedures, and operational standards.

• Review seizure reports and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Analyze case facts and available evidence to confirm the occurrence of violations, following defined investigation methodologies.
• Assess and document preliminary criminal liability, and prepare structured case findings.
• Prepare case files and supporting documentation for referral to Public Prosecution.
• Conduct suspect interviews, record statements, and ensure suspects are informed of their legal rights in accordance with established procedures.
• Ensure timely notification to Public Prosecution upon incident occurrence, following defined protocols.
• Prepare formal requests for initiating customs criminal proceedings and submit for review and approval.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of investigation activities and documentation.

The role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders, including legal, operations, and compliance teams, to complete case requirements. It involves identifying missing information or gaps in case documentation and following up to ensure completeness. Complex or unclear cases are escalated to higher authority with proper justification and supporting analysis. The role also contributes to maintaining compliance with internal policies, procedures, and audit requirements.

Job Details

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience in customs, compliance, investigation, or legal support roles.
