Role Overview
As the Financial Controller at Basiqat Resort by Mantis, you will serve as the financial steward of a premier conservation-focused hospitality destination, ensuring rigorous financial governance, precise reporting, and robust internal controls in a remote and dynamic resort environment. Reporting directly to the General Manager and collaborating closely with regional finance leadership, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance, safeguarding assets, and providing strategic insights to support informed decision-making. This position is ideal for a proactive finance professional with a passion for operational excellence and the ability to thrive in a pre-opening or early-stage resort setting.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Controller will oversee a comprehensive range of financial functions, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while ensuring alignment with Mantis Collection’s sustainability-driven business model and Accor’s global standards. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, to maintain financial integrity and transparency.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including management accounts and performance analyses for leadership review.
- Uphold the integrity of financial data and ensure full compliance with group reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting exercises, collaborating with department heads to align cost planning with revenue projections.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets, providing detailed variance analyses and actionable recommendations to optimize profitability.
- Support commercial teams with financial insights to identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost efficiency.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls across all finance processes to mitigate risks and safeguard company assets.
- Ensure strict adherence to Accor’s policies, procedures, and sustainability principles, as well as Saudi financial regulations, tax requirements, and statutory obligations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and continuous improvement in financial governance.
- Operational Finance Support:
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll coordination, and cash management to maintain liquidity and financial stability.
- Provide financial governance and oversight for procurement and purchasing processes, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable procurement practices.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation across departments and revenue streams to reflect the true financial performance of the resort.
- Business Partnering:
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to the General Manager and leadership team, offering strategic insights to support decision-making, cost optimization, and revenue enhancement.
- Collaborate closely with operations, HR, and commercial teams to align financial strategies with operational goals and sustainability objectives.
- Systems & Process Improvement:
- Ensure the effective utilization of financial systems and tools, including Property Management Systems (PMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Point-of-Sale (POS) integrations, to streamline financial operations.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting efficiency, and system integrations to enhance accuracy and reduce manual intervention.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We seek a results-driven and detail-oriented finance professional with a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the hospitality, tourism, or luxury resort sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial governance, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, with a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote, or pre-opening environment. Proficiency in financial systems, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices are essential. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic or French would be advantageous.
