Financial Controller

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our executive leadership team at The Residence Maldives. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in shaping the financial strategy and operational excellence of our luxury resort, ensuring alignment with our strategic business and operating plans. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive financial performance, implement robust control systems, and support sustainable growth in one of the world’s most prestigious destinations.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial Controller will serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Committee, providing strategic financial insights and operational support to enhance profitability and efficiency. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Financial Leadership: Actively participate in Executive Committee meetings to contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market demands.
• Financial Systems and Controls: Design, implement, and monitor robust internal controls in accordance with Hotel Finance Policy, Corporate Policy, and legal obligations. Oversee the acquisition, disbursement, and disposition of hotel assets while ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present comprehensive financial statements, including monthly reports, balance sheets, cash flow projections, and strategic financial analyses. Provide actionable insights to support informed business decisions.
• Operational Support: Collaborate with all Executive Committee members to monitor asset utilization, optimize financial performance, and mentor department heads in achieving their operational goals.
• Information Systems Management: Lead the maintenance, enhancement, and development of the hotel’s financial information systems to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Team Development and Training: Foster a culture of excellence by providing job-specific training to associates, identifying high-potential candidates for career advancement, and structuring development pathways to nurture future leaders.
• Compliance and Professional Standards: Ensure adherence to grooming and professional standards across the organization, promoting a workplace that values professionalism, teamwork, and guest-centric service excellence.
• Corporate Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison for financial requests from the Corporate Office, ensuring timely and accurate communication while maintaining alignment with corporate policies and objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, along with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive financial management experience in the hospitality or luxury service industry. Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic and high-end environment.
