Job Purpose

The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the entire purchasing lifecycle, from strategic planning and supplier sourcing to cost-effective procurement and timely delivery. This role is instrumental in ensuring that all procurement activities align with organizational policies, operational requirements, and budgetary constraints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and service excellence. The ideal candidate will drive efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance to support DMC’s mission of delivering unparalleled guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for a wide range of procurement functions, including:

  • End-to-End Procurement Management: Oversee the entire purchasing process, from receiving purchase requests and sourcing suppliers to evaluating quotations, issuing purchase orders, negotiating terms, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Support for Corporate Operations and Events: Lead purchasing activities that underpin corporate operations and event execution, including production materials, audio-visual services, venues, branding, furniture, catering, logistics, promotional items, and entertainment requirements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to understand procurement needs, prioritize requests, and align purchasing activities with operational and project timelines to ensure seamless execution.
  • Supplier Negotiation and Management: Engage in strategic negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial conditions while upholding quality and service standards.
  • Supplier Performance and Relationships: Establish and maintain a roster of approved suppliers through rigorous evaluation, continuous performance monitoring, and improvement initiatives to ensure reliability and excellence in service delivery.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Monitor purchasing expenditures against approved budgets, analyze spending trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare comprehensive purchasing reports and management dashboards for leadership review.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all purchasing activities adhere to company policies, delegated authorities, contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements while maintaining meticulous records and documentation.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve supplier-related challenges, including delivery delays, quality concerns, invoice discrepancies, and purchasing risks to minimize operational disruptions and uphold business continuity.
  • Inventory and Demand Planning: Collaborate with operational teams to align purchasing schedules with inventory needs and supplier lead times, supporting accurate demand forecasting and stock management.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous enhancement of purchasing processes, systems, supplier performance, and operational efficiency to elevate service quality and procurement effectiveness.
  • Strategic Contribution: Provide valuable input to the Department’s strategy from a procurement perspective, ensuring alignment with RSG’s vision and mission. Develop and implement Section or Unit objectives, KPIs, and annual operational plans to meet performance targets.
  • Financial and Team Management: Contribute to budget preparation, monitor financial performance, and ensure adherence to Section or Unit policies and procedures. Oversee staffing, employee development, and performance management in coordination with senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in procurement or purchasing, with at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
  • Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, and cost optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, compliance standards, and contract management.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of driving process improvements and team development.
