Mechanical Inspector
الوصف الوظيفي
About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our esteemed Project and Construction Management team for a transformative Roads Program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This pivotal position is based within our Infrastructure Division and plays a critical role in ensuring that all mechanical installations—including utilities, pumping stations, mechanical equipment, and associated infrastructure—are executed in strict adherence to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your expertise will be instrumental in upholding the integrity of our projects while supporting the delivery of exceptional construction supervision services.
Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Inspector, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical tasks to ensure the successful execution of mechanical works. You will be responsible for conducting thorough daily inspections of mechanical installations, including but not limited to:
- Piping systems and associated components
- Pumping stations and mechanical equipment installations
- HVAC systems (where applicable)
- Fire-fighting networks and utility-related mechanical components
- Valves, fittings, and other mechanical infrastructure
Your role will also involve verifying that all materials, equipment, and workmanship strictly comply with project specifications, approved drawings, and internationally recognized standards. You will monitor contractors’ activities to ensure full adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures, approved method statements, and stringent safety protocols. In the event of non-conformances, potential issues, or safety violations, you will promptly report these findings to senior staff and diligently follow up on corrective actions to mitigate risks and maintain project integrity.
Additionally, you will be tasked with maintaining meticulous and up-to-date records of inspections, site observations, test results, and daily progress activities. Collaboration with materials testing laboratories and third-party testing agencies will be essential to verify mechanical testing requirements and ensure timely delivery of results. You will review and validate contractors’ Requests for Inspection (RFIs), actively participate in approval and acceptance processes, and support the Senior Mechanical Engineer in evaluating shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and technical documentation.
During the project close-out phase, you will assist in verifying mechanical as-built works and handover documentation to ensure a seamless transition. Effective coordination and communication with other discipline inspectors and project stakeholders will be vital to fostering a collaborative and efficient site environment.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in construction supervision, with a strong preference for involvement in infrastructure projects, utilities, pumping stations, or mechanical systems within major construction initiatives.
- A comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems, piping works, equipment installation, and rigorous quality control requirements.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, ASTM, API, NFPA, or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
- Prior experience working with government entities or within major Project Management Consultancy and Management (PMCM) infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be considered a significant advantage.
- The ability to read, interpret, and analyze mechanical drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and detailed technical specifications.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to reporting accuracy, and strong problem-solving capabilities to address challenges proactively.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory; additional proficiency in Arabic will be highly beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural and diverse team environment.
