Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Lead Engineer – Mechanical will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and performance of our mechanical systems and equipment. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of mechanical maintenance engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Develop and implement performance metrics to ensure team productivity and efficiency.
- Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime and extend the lifespan of critical mechanical assets. Utilize advanced tools and technologies, such as condition monitoring and vibration analysis, to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Work Planning and Execution: Develop detailed maintenance plans, schedules, and work orders in alignment with operational requirements and industry best practices. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and safety, to ensure seamless execution of maintenance activities.
- Technical Expertise and Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical guidance to resolve complex mechanical failures and equipment malfunctions. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to local and international safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Promote a safety-first culture by conducting regular risk assessments, safety audits, and training sessions for the maintenance team.
- Budget and Resource Management: Collaborate with the finance and procurement departments to manage maintenance budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize procurement processes for spare parts and materials. Monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and efficiency by evaluating emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry trends. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance maintenance strategies, reduce operational costs, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical maintenance-related matters. Present performance reports, maintenance updates, and strategic recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Project Management Professional (PMP)) are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role within the energy, water, or industrial sectors. Experience in managing large-scale mechanical systems, such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and HVAC systems, is essential.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical engineering principles, maintenance management systems (MMS), and computer-aided maintenance planning tools. Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and condition-based monitoring techniques is advantageous.
- Leadership and Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop talent, foster a positive work environment, and drive organizational goals.
- Certifications: Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) registration or eligibility for registration is preferred. Certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are a plus.
