System Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive System Engineer to join our IT team, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing our organization’s critical IT infrastructure. In this position, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of key systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Servers, backup solutions, and VMware virtualization environments. Your expertise will ensure high system availability, robust security, and optimal performance, while delivering exceptional technical support to end-users and collaborating effectively with cross-functional IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Microsoft Exchange Administration: Manage and maintain the organization’s Exchange environment, ensuring seamless email communication, calendar integration, and collaboration capabilities. Oversee mailbox configurations, distribution groups, and mail flow to maintain uninterrupted service.
• Active Directory Management: Administer and optimize the Active Directory infrastructure, including user account provisioning, group management, and Group Policy Object (GPO) configurations. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and security standards.
• Windows Server Infrastructure: Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments to guarantee stability, performance, and security. Implement best practices for server deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• VMware Virtualization Administration: Oversee the VMware virtualization environment, including vSphere and ESXi hosts, to maximize resource utilization, scalability, and reliability. Manage virtual machines, storage, and networking components within the virtual infrastructure.
• Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design, implement, and manage backup and recovery solutions to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity. Conduct regular tests to validate recovery procedures and minimize downtime in case of system failures.
• System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and resolve infrastructure-related problems to maintain optimal operational efficiency. Utilize monitoring tools and diagnostic techniques to preemptively address concerns.
• Security and Compliance: Apply security updates, patches, and system maintenance activities to protect the IT environment from vulnerabilities and threats. Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks.
• Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, operational procedures, and incident reports. Prepare and present operational reports to stakeholders to communicate system status and performance metrics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, including network engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and helpdesk support, to deliver reliable and secure IT services. Participate in IT projects, upgrades, and strategic initiatives to enhance infrastructure capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess a strong technical background in system administration, with hands-on experience in Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Windows Servers, VMware virtualization, and backup solutions. Proficiency in scripting and automation tools is a plus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
