Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Lead Engineer – Electrical to oversee and lead the electrical maintenance operations within our facility. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance strategies, leading a team of professionals, and ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of all electrical systems. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Planning & Execution
The Maintenance Lead Engineer – Electrical will be tasked with designing, implementing, and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, motors, and ancillary equipment. You will develop detailed maintenance schedules to minimize operational disruptions while ensuring all systems operate at peak performance. Additionally, you will ensure the availability of necessary tooling and coordinate third-party certifications to maintain compliance with industry standards.
Team Leadership & Development
This role requires strong leadership to manage, mentor, and supervise a team of electrical maintenance engineers and technicians. You will foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and professional growth by evaluating team performance, providing targeted training, and encouraging continuous skill development. Your ability to inspire and guide your team will be instrumental in maintaining high standards of workmanship and operational efficiency.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
As the technical authority for electrical systems, you will lead troubleshooting efforts, resolve complex issues, and ensure adherence to best practices in maintenance and repair. Conducting thorough root cause analyses (RCA) for electrical failures will be a key responsibility, enabling you to develop and implement strategies that prevent recurrence and enhance system reliability.
Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
You will plan and oversee electrical maintenance projects and upgrades, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and strict adherence to safety regulations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, operations, and engineering departments, will be essential to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize operational disruptions.
Budget & Resource Management
Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, you will assist in developing the annual maintenance budget for electrical systems and manage resources effectively. This includes monitoring expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring that financial constraints do not compromise safety or reliability.
Procurement & Inventory Management
You will ensure the availability of adequate inventories of spare parts and consumables, facilitating timely procurement to support efficient operations. This involves preparing purchase requisitions, evaluating technical quotations from the purchasing department, and recommending optimal choices to maintain system uptime.
Compliance, Safety & Documentation
The Maintenance Lead Engineer – Electrical will ensure that all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies. Conducting periodic safety audits, training sessions, and risk assessments will be critical to maintaining a safe working environment. Additionally, you will maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, parts inventory, and performance metrics, preparing comprehensive reports for management review.
Continuous Improvement & Pre-Commissioning Support
You will identify and implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance electrical maintenance processes. Staying abreast of industry trends and technological advancements will be essential to improving plant reliability and efficiency. During the pre-commissioning phase, you will support the Owner in design reviews, installation, commissioning, testing, and trial operations. This includes reviewing and finalizing O&M manuals, initial spare parts lists, developing a Master Equipment List, and implementing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). You will also conduct criticality studies to inform spares and maintenance strategies, develop site-specific maintenance procedures, and ensure the team is authorized as permit receivers.
Operational Readiness & Compliance
Ensuring operational readiness involves training staff, validating systems and processes for O&M operations, and confirming that the plant is designed, built, commissioned, and tested in accordance with the EPC Contract and other project agreements. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the plant is fit for purpose and ready for seamless transition into operational status.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, preferably within power generation or combined cycle power plants.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and motors, with a strong understanding of maintenance best practices and safety protocols.
