Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Officer, Cargo Maintenance Support & Facilities to join our team at MAB Kargo Penang Airport (PENAP). This critical role is responsible for overseeing the proper maintenance and operational readiness of all cargo-related equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while promoting workplace safety, efficiency, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal part in maintaining the integrity of our cargo operations by managing maintenance activities, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and upholding stringent quality and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
The Officer, Cargo Maintenance Support & Facilities will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities:
- Maintenance Oversight: Ensure all cargo equipment—including dollies, trolleys, the Pallet Container Handling System (PCHS), weighing scales, dock levelers, cold/chiller rooms, and forklifts—are maintained to the highest standards, adhering to aviation authority, manufacturer, and customer requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee full compliance with local regulatory bodies such as DOSH, DOE, COSH, Bomba, and other relevant authorities to mitigate risks and ensure operational legality.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure their work meets the organization’s specified standards and aligns with management expectations.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to allocate necessary resources for maintenance activities, fostering a cohesive and efficient operational environment.
- Serviceability Targets: Achieve and maintain departmental targets for equipment and facility serviceability, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
- Safety and Quality Assurance: Promote a culture of safety and quality among team members, enforce good housekeeping practices, and ensure all processes comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Adhere to departmental procedures (POS/IP01-POS/IP05) and meet targets set by the Department Head, maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
- Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and organizational skills to address operational challenges proactively and ensure continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess relevant experience:
- Educational Background: Minimum qualification of SPM, SPMV, DVM, STPM, SKM, Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience in cargo operations, facility maintenance, or logistics support. Prior experience in handling ground support equipment (GSE) or warehouse facilities is highly advantageous. Candidates with exposure to cargo airlines, forwarding agents, or manufacturing environments within the logistics sector are strongly preferred.
Required Competencies

- Technical Proficiency: In-depth understanding of maintenance procedures and safety regulations, including DOSH, DOE, and Bomba standards.
- Communication and Coordination: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
- Operational Readiness: Ability to plan, monitor, and ensure the operational readiness of all equipment and facilities, minimizing disruptions and maximizing efficiency.
- Technological Competency: Proficient in using computer applications such as MS Office, SAP, or other maintenance tracking systems to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.
- Problem-Solving and Organization: Strong analytical skills and organizational acumen to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and resolve issues promptly.
- Work Ethic and Adaptability: Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team, with the flexibility to accommodate shift work or irregular hours as required by operational demands.
