System Site Engineer

Role Overview

The System Site Engineer is a pivotal technical position responsible for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of mission-critical applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). This role demands a unique blend of expertise in Linux system administration, network configuration, application deployment automation, and proficiency in SQL databases (Oracle) alongside Java-based applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers, database administrators, and system architects to ensure the seamless, secure, and efficient operation of systems across both production and non-production environments. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, performance optimization, and proactive system monitoring to uphold the highest standards of reliability and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• System Deployment & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain RHEL-based systems, ensuring optimal performance and security in alignment with organizational standards.
• Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Leverage automation tools such as Ansible and Puppet to streamline application deployment, configuration management, and infrastructure provisioning, reducing manual intervention and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Database Administration: Provide expert-level support for Oracle databases, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup, and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
• Application Support & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Java applications, Spring Boot frameworks, and Business Process Management (BPM) tools such as Flowable, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum system uptime.
• Network & Security Management: Implement and maintain robust network configurations on Linux systems, enforce security best practices, and ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, DBAs, and architects, to align system requirements with business objectives and deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective measures to enhance efficiency, scalability, and user experience.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration or application deployment roles, with a strong focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.

Technical Competencies

• Linux System Administration: In-depth experience with RHEL, including system installation, patch management, user administration, and troubleshooting.
• Networking: Comprehensive understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPN configurations on Linux platforms.
• Automation Tools: Proven expertise in Ansible, Puppet, or similar configuration management tools to automate repetitive tasks and ensure consistency across environments.
• Database Management: Strong knowledge of Oracle Database administration, including SQL tuning, backup strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
• Java & Spring Boot: Solid experience with Java-based applications, Spring Boot frameworks, and related technologies to support application deployment and integration.
• BPM Tools: Familiarity with Business Process Management tools, preferably Flowable, to manage workflows and business logic within enterprise applications.
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure environments.
