Role Overview

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance and Accounting Officer to oversee financial operations for our Program Operations in Mindanao, including Sponsorship and grant-funded projects. This critical role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of financial processes while strengthening financial accountability among partners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Processing and Compliance: Review and process payment requests, fund requests, cash advances, and liquidations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Cash Management: Prepare fund requests and facilitate timely cash disbursement for program activities and partner initiatives, ensuring optimal liquidity and financial stewardship.
  • Transaction Review: Analyze SAP and procurement transactions to verify correct financial coding, data accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Partner Financial Oversight: Monitor partner budgets and expenditures, conduct monthly expense verifications, and resolve discrepancies to maintain financial transparency and accountability.
  • Reporting and Tax Compliance: Prepare timely financial reports, tax documents, and other regulatory filings in accordance with local and international standards. Provide guidance to partners on financial processes to enhance their capacity and compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of professional experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management, with a strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems, preferably SAP.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in NGO or donor-funded project accounting is highly advantageous.
  • Commitment to high ethical standards, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in project areas across Mindanao.
  • Must be a Filipino national based in the Philippines.
