Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Engineer to join our dynamic team, specializing in Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of our fleet, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Vessel Maintenance & Repairs: Lead and execute comprehensive maintenance programs for AHTS vessels, including routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Technical Oversight: Provide expert technical guidance to the engineering team, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance vessel functionality and safety.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and company policies to maintain vessel certification and operational legality.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets, optimizing resource allocation to achieve cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Safety & Risk Management: Implement and enforce robust safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and promote a proactive safety culture to minimize hazards and ensure the well-being of crew and assets.
- Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers to procure high-quality materials, equipment, and services at competitive prices.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, and prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Chief Engineer’s License) are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in marine engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the AHTS or offshore support vessel sector.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of AHTS vessel systems, including propulsion, navigation, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with modern diagnostic tools and maintenance software is essential.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proven ability to identify root causes of technical issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of maritime laws, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and other relevant international and local regulations.
- Safety Awareness: Commitment to safety culture, with a track record of promoting best practices in hazardous environments.
