Key Responsibilities

The Staff Nurse 1 will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients across multiple specialized units. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU): Delivering advanced nursing care to adult patients with life-threatening conditions, including post-surgical recovery, multi-organ failure, and complex medical emergencies. This includes continuous monitoring, ventilator management, hemodynamic stabilization, and administering specialized medications.
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU): Providing expert nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents, with a focus on conditions such as respiratory distress, sepsis, congenital disorders, and post-operative recovery. Responsibilities include managing pediatric ventilators, administering age-appropriate medications, and supporting families through emotionally challenging situations.
  • Interventional Radiology: Assisting in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including angiography, embolization, biopsies, and minimally invasive interventions. This role requires close collaboration with radiologists to ensure patient safety, sterility, and procedural efficiency.
  • Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Conducting thorough patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with physicians, specialists, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Monitoring & Documentation: Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including vital signs, medication administration, procedural outcomes, and progress notes in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Patient & Family Education: Educating patients and their families on treatment plans, post-procedure care, and preventive health measures to promote recovery and long-term well-being.
  • Emergency Response: Responding promptly to medical emergencies, including cardiac arrests, rapid response calls, and deteriorating patient conditions, while adhering to advanced life support protocols.
  • Team Collaboration & Leadership: Serving as a role model for junior staff, participating in interdisciplinary rounds, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree or relevant certification in critical care, pediatric nursing, or interventional radiology is highly desirable.
  • Licensure & Certification: Valid nursing license (Saudi Council for Health Specialties or equivalent). Certifications such as Critical Care Nursing (CCRN), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in ICU, PICU, or Interventional Radiology. Prior experience in a tertiary care hospital or academic medical center is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of critical care equipment (e.g., ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps), electronic health records (EHR), and interventional radiology tools. Familiarity with ICU protocols, pediatric sedation guidelines, and radiation safety standards is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated leadership, adaptability, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
