Junior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. This role is designed to support the execution of mechanical engineering works by providing on-site assistance in the review, coordination, and implementation of design and construction activities. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Mechanical Engineer and in collaboration with the Design Manager, the successful candidate will contribute to critical project deliverables, including shop drawing reviews, site inspections, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination. The position is primarily site-focused, with a strong emphasis on resolving day-to-day construction challenges and supporting technical workflows to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities

The Junior Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in the following areas:

• Design, Site, and Construction Support (Mechanical):
  • Provide hands-on mechanical engineering support on site, addressing construction queries, RFIs (Requests for Information), and technical clarifications in a timely manner.
  • Review mechanical works, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, to verify compliance with approved drawings and project specifications.
  • Identify and report mechanical site issues, discrepancies, or non-conformances to the Senior Mechanical Engineer for resolution.
  • Coordinate mechanical activities with structural, architectural, electrical, and fit-out disciplines to prevent clashes and execution conflicts.
  • Support inspections, testing, and commissioning activities for mechanical systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Prepare and update sketches, mark-ups, and simple mechanical drawings/details using CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM) to facilitate efficient site execution.
  • Assist in producing redline drawings and as-built markups based on actual site conditions, ensuring alignment with design intent.
  • Provide drafting support when required to resolve site issues efficiently and reduce reliance on dedicated drafting resources.
• Shop Drawings, Submittals, and As-Built Support:
  • Review mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, and project standards.
  • Assist in preparing technical comments and tracking the status of submittals to maintain project timelines.
  • Verify that approved shop drawings and materials are correctly implemented on site.
  • Support the preparation and validation of mechanical as-built drawings and documentation for final project records.
• Technical Queries, RFIs, and NCR Management:
  • Assist in preparing responses to RFIs, Technical Queries (TQs), and site clarifications to maintain clear communication and project momentum.
  • Support the investigation and close-out of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), observations, and quality issues in collaboration with the Senior Mechanical Engineer.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve technical and coordination issues efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of technical correspondence and site decisions for audit and reference purposes.
• Coordination and Communication:
  • Liaise with site engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment on mechanical works and project requirements.
  • Interface with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, and electrical teams, to facilitate multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide updates to senior team members to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Adhere to document control systems and project workflows to maintain compliance and efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing:
  • Develop a deep understanding of mechanical systems, installation practices, and coordination processes through hands-on experience and mentorship.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and team performance.
  • Seek guidance from senior engineers and actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to foster professional growth.
  • Promote best practices in mechanical construction quality, execution, and safety standards.
