IT Infrastructure & Cloud Consultant - Peterborough

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Infrastructure & Cloud Consultant to join our dynamic team at The HBP Group. This is a full-time position based in Peterborough, offering a competitive salary range of £40,000 to £45,000 per annum. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing robust infrastructure and cloud solutions that drive operational excellence and support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency. Work with platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud to deliver tailored solutions that meet business needs.
• Infrastructure Management: Oversee the maintenance and optimization of on-premises and hybrid IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and virtualization technologies. Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability across all systems.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with cross-functional teams, including IT, development, and business units, to understand requirements and deliver integrated solutions. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology strategies and best practices.
• Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce robust security policies, compliance standards, and disaster recovery plans. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
• Vendor & Technology Evaluation: Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and vendors to recommend innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in cloud and infrastructure domains.
• Project Delivery: Manage and execute IT infrastructure and cloud projects from inception to completion, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Provide clear documentation and training to end-users and support teams.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to infrastructure and cloud environments. Provide tier-3 support to internal teams and escalate critical incidents as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you will possess a strong technical background in IT infrastructure and cloud technologies, coupled with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure management, cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and virtualization technologies.
• Hands-on expertise with networking, security protocols, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2).
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Excellent project management abilities, with a track record of delivering high-impact IT initiatives.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
