This role will be pivotal in driving flawless in-store execution across major Modern Trade retail partners in the Riyadh region.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Key Account Manager, the Modern Trade Supervisor will be responsible for leading a field team to ensure exceptional in-store execution across assigned Modern Trade accounts in Riyadh. The role encompasses ownership of coverage, product availability, merchandising standards, and promotional execution at the store level. By translating account agreements into tangible on-shelf results, the Modern Trade Supervisor will play a critical role in driving sales performance while mentoring and developing a team of merchandisers and salesmen.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Coverage Delivery
- Achieve monthly sales, volume, and distribution targets across assigned Modern Trade stores in the Riyadh region.
- Ensure comprehensive coverage of assigned outlets in alignment with agreed journey plans and visit frequencies.
- Secure new product listings and expand distribution and facings within the assigned store base.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance Al Rabie’s volume and market share within each store.
In-Store Execution & Merchandising
- Deliver best-in-class in-store execution, including planogram compliance, shelf availability, secondary displays, and pricing accuracy.
- Ensure optimal product freshness on shelves by actively managing stock rotation and removing near-expiry or damaged stock.
- Secure and maintain prime shelf positioning, additional display space, and branded equipment placement.
- Monitor and proactively reduce out-of-stocks and lost sales through diligent shelf and back-store management.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of merchandisers and salesmen to achieve individual and collective targets.
- Allocate territories and journey plans to ensure efficient coverage and balanced workloads across the team.
- Conduct regular in-field coaching, on-the-job training, and performance reviews to enhance team capability.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and productivity, addressing performance gaps promptly and fairly.
Promotions & Customer Coordination
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of promotional programs and seasonal activations (e.g., Ramadan, summer, back-to-school) at store level.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with store managers, section heads, and receiving staff to facilitate seamless execution.
- Coordinate deliveries, orders, and returns with the supply chain to ensure continuous product availability.
- Escalate account-level issues and opportunities to the Key Account Manager with clear, actionable recommendations.
Compliance & Asset Management
- Ensure the team adheres to all company policies, trade agreements, and health & safety standards during store operations.
- Manage and safeguard company assets, including branded chillers, display units, and merchandising equipment.
- Ensure accurate and timely use of sales-force automation tools and reporting by all team members.
- Uphold Al Rabie’s stringent quality and freshness standards at every stage of store visits.
Data, Analytics & Reporting
- Track and report daily and weekly sales, coverage, distribution, and execution KPIs for the team and territory.
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotions, and in-store activity, reporting findings to the Key Account Manager.
- Leverage field data to identify underperforming stores and implement corrective action plans.
- Provide regular field reports and store execution summaries to the Key Account Manager.
Key Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of four years of relevant experience in modern trade, retail sales, or field merchandising, preferably within the FMCG sector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of achieving sales targets, leading teams, and executing flawless in-store activations. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. Proficiency in sales-force automation tools and excellent communication skills are also required. Fluency in Arabic and English is preferred, along with a deep understanding of the Riyadh retail landscape and consumer behavior.
