Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate, Accountant to join our dynamic finance team at Carrier in Jeddah. Key Responsibilities
The Senior Associate, Accountant will play a critical role in overseeing and executing a wide range of accounting functions to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. The primary responsibilities include:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records. Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and deferrals.
- Tax Compliance and Planning: Coordinate with tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns, including VAT, income tax, and other statutory filings. Provide strategic tax planning recommendations to optimize the company’s tax position.
- Internal Controls and Audit Support: Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Assist internal and external auditors during periodic audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance leadership team to prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans. Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as procurement, operations, and human resources to ensure alignment of financial data with operational activities. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on financial matters and strategic initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Implement and train teams on new accounting systems or software as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or supervisory role. Prior experience in a multinational corporation or a large-scale enterprise is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience with financial consolidation tools and ERP systems is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative work environment. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
