Metal Scrap Operations Manager / Specialist

About the Role

We are searching for a dynamic and results-driven Metal Scrap Operations Manager / Specialist to lead our metal scrap operations with a strategic and hands-on approach. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of four years of direct experience in metal scrap management, procurement, and sales, ensuring seamless end-to-end operational execution. This role demands a proactive leader capable of optimizing workflows, managing financial transactions, and driving commercial success through efficient trading practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Scrap Trading & Commercial Management

You will spearhead all aspects of scrap trading, from sourcing to sales, to maximize profitability and market competitiveness:

• Purchasing & Sourcing: Identify and secure high-quality ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from suppliers, industrial facilities, and vendors at optimal market rates through strategic negotiations.
• Sales & Distribution: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with buyers, including foundries and exporters, to secure premium pricing for processed and raw scrap materials.
• Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research on local and global scrap metal market trends, pricing fluctuations, and demand patterns to inform data-driven buying and selling decisions.

2. Truck & Weighbridge Traffic System

You will design, implement, and oversee a robust system to streamline truck traffic and ensure operational integrity:

• System Implementation: Develop and deploy an end-to-end management system to track, log, and monitor all trucks entering and exiting the facility.
• Weight & Traffic Control: Supervise scalehouse operations to guarantee accurate gross, tare, and net weight recordings for every shipment, minimizing errors and discrepancies.
• Loss & Fraud Prevention: Establish and enforce verification protocols to detect and prevent weight manipulation, unauthorized loads, or misclassified materials.

3. Cash & Financial Control

Financial precision and accountability are critical to this role. You will manage all monetary aspects of operations:

• Cash Flow Management: Handle daily cash disbursements for scrap purchases and reconcile collections from buyers to maintain financial stability.
• Financial Reporting: Maintain meticulous ledger entries, receipts, and daily cash flow summaries in collaboration with the accounting team to ensure transparency and accuracy.
• Audit & Compliance: Ensure all transactions are fully documented, traceable, and compliant with local financial regulations, mitigating risks and ensuring operational legality.

4. Yard & Material Handling Supervision

You will oversee the yard’s operational efficiency and material integrity to enhance productivity and value:

• Sorting & Grading: Lead material inspection, sorting, and grading processes to uphold quality standards and maximize material value.
• Operational Efficiency: Optimize yard layout, streamline loading/unloading procedures, and enhance the utilization of heavy equipment to reduce downtime and improve throughput.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in metal scrap management, including handling, trading, and procurement of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in scrap material grading, valuation, and market pricing strategies.
• System Management: Experience in implementing or managing weighbridge and truck tracking management software to enhance operational efficiency.
• Financial Acumen: Strong skills in inventory control, ledger management, and cash handling to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation abilities, vendor management expertise, and problem-solving agility to navigate complex operational challenges.

Language & Communication

Proficiency in Arabic and English is essential. Additional fluency in local languages may be required based on the operational market.
