Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Smart City Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team in Jeddah. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, and maintaining the core infrastructure of our smart city platform. Your expertise will be instrumental in integrating diverse data sources, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the seamless operation of our platform, which serves as the backbone for urban innovation and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software engineering, cloud computing, and data management, with a passion for leveraging technology to solve complex urban challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Development and Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain the smart city platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and enhancements that align with the evolving needs of smart city initiatives.
• Data Integration and Management: Integrate and manage diverse data sources, including IoT devices, sensors, and third-party APIs, to create a unified and actionable data ecosystem. Develop data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and real-time accessibility.
• Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps: Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Implement DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code (IaC), to streamline development and deployment processes.
• System Optimization and Monitoring: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to enhance efficiency and reliability. Utilize monitoring tools and analytics to proactively address issues and ensure the platform operates at peak performance.
• Security and Compliance: Ensure the platform adheres to industry best practices for security, data privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations. Implement robust security measures, including encryption, access controls, and vulnerability assessments, to protect sensitive data and maintain user trust.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, urban planners, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and deliver solutions that meet the strategic goals of smart city projects. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL) and data integration tools.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols, APIs, and real-time data processing frameworks.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for data protection.
