Assistant Manager, Procurement Fresh Food

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Manager, Procurement Fresh Food to join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing our procurement operations. In this position, you will work closely with the Procurement Manager to develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, optimize supplier relationships, and ensure the efficient procurement of high-quality fresh food products. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving cost savings, improving process efficiency, and maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in procurement, supplier management, and fresh food category expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement Support: Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies, policies, and procedures to align with organizational objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify procurement requirements, specifications, and quality standards for fresh food products.
• Supplier Management & Sourcing: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and maintain an up-to-date supplier database. Lead sourcing activities through bidding processes, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and Requests for Information (RFIs), while providing category-specific expertise to sourcing specialists.
• Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable contracts and achieve cost savings. Ensure timely delivery of fresh food products and address any quality or delivery issues promptly. Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service level agreements.
• Process Improvement & Cost Optimization: Contribute to cost-saving initiatives by analyzing market trends, conducting value analysis, and optimizing supplier portfolios. Support the implementation of procurement best practices and streamline workflows to enhance operational efficiency. Report and analyze procurement data to identify opportunities for improvement and supplier optimization.
• Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and quality assurance teams, to provide procurement expertise and support. Manage relationships with suppliers and internal teams to foster collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.
• Compliance & Industry Awareness: Ensure adherence to procurement policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting the fresh food procurement landscape.
• Ad-Hoc & Operational Support: Assist in ad-hoc tasks and special projects as assigned by senior management. Perform other duties related to the job and company operations in compliance with the regulations of the Saudi Labor Law.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 to 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a focus on fresh food or perishable goods preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Strong analytical and negotiation skills are essential.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are a plus.
