CIM Data Modelling & Data Integration Expert – Electric Utility

Position Overview

Elia Grid International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced CIM Data Modelling & Data Integration Expert to join our dynamic team in Riyadh. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration and interoperability of data models within the electric utility sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Common Information Model (CIM) data models, as well as facilitating robust data integration solutions to enhance operational efficiency and grid reliability. Key Responsibilities

• CIM Data Modelling: Develop, refine, and maintain CIM-based data models in alignment with industry standards such as IEC 61970 and IEC 61968. Ensure models accurately represent the electric utility’s assets, topology, and operational processes.
• Data Integration Solutions: Design and implement data integration frameworks that enable seamless communication between disparate systems, including SCADA, EMS, DMS, and GIS platforms. Focus on achieving interoperability and reducing data silos.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and operations, to gather requirements, validate models, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate clear communication.
• Compliance & Standards Adherence: Ensure all data models and integration solutions comply with international standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Stay updated on evolving industry standards and emerging technologies.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of data models and integration processes to enhance system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. Identify and resolve data inconsistencies or integration bottlenecks.
• Documentation & Training: Create comprehensive documentation for data models, integration workflows, and operational procedures. Provide training and support to internal teams to ensure effective utilization of CIM-based solutions.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to data modelling and integration, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize operational disruptions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIM User Group, IEC standards) is a plus.
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in CIM data modelling, particularly with tools such as CIMTool, Enterprise Architect, or similar platforms. Strong proficiency in data integration technologies, including ETL processes, APIs, and middleware solutions.
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of electric utility operations, including power systems, grid management, and asset lifecycle management. Familiarity with IEC 61970, IEC 61968, and other relevant standards is essential.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data structures, identify patterns, and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across teams.
• Project Management: Experience in managing data modelling and integration projects, including planning, execution, and delivery within defined timelines and budgets.
