Key Responsibilities
The Senior Project Field Engineer – Instrumentation & Electrical will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities:
- Project Execution & Oversight: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of instrumentation and electrical projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance to field teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, to resolve technical challenges, optimize workflows, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, and cross-functional teams to align project objectives, address concerns, and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Conduct rigorous inspections, testing, and validation of instrumentation and electrical systems to ensure adherence to international codes (e.g., IEC, ANSI, API) and company policies.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in field operations, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure all safety and environmental protocols are strictly followed to minimize hazards and disruptions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, progress updates, and as-built documentation, maintaining accurate records for audits, certifications, and future reference.
- Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex issues in instrumentation and electrical systems, leveraging analytical skills and industry best practices to restore operations promptly.
- Team Development: Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth within the team.
Qualifications & Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEng) are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in instrumentation and electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a field engineering or project leadership capacity within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial sectors.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA, DCS), electrical distribution networks, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ISO).
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with a track record of identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions under pressure.
- Safety & Compliance: Unwavering commitment to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and ethical business practices.
- Tools & Software: Proficiency in CAD software, project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project), and familiarity with instrumentation calibration and testing equipment.
