We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Consultant – Pharmaceutical Category to join our team in Riyadh. Key Responsibilities
The Procurement Consultant will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing pharmaceutical category strategies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable value. The core responsibilities include:
- Strategic Sourcing & Category Management: Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for pharmaceutical products, aligning procurement activities with organizational goals and healthcare standards.
- Supplier Engagement & Negotiation: Lead sourcing projects, conduct supplier negotiations, and establish long-term strategic partnerships to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service-level agreements.
- Cost Optimization & Spend Analysis: Identify and execute opportunities to reduce procurement costs, optimize spend, and enhance financial performance without compromising product quality or patient care.
- Supply Chain Risk Management: Proactively assess and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure product availability, minimize disruptions, and maintain operational resilience in alignment with healthcare delivery requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacy, clinical, finance, and supply chain teams to align procurement strategies with broader organizational objectives, ensuring seamless integration and value delivery.
- Framework Agreements & Vendor Management: Develop and manage framework agreements with key suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering sustainable vendor relationships.
Key Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) are highly desirable.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing, with a proven track record in healthcare or life sciences procurement.
- Negotiation & Analytical Skills: Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities to drive cost savings, evaluate supplier performance, and make data-driven procurement decisions.
- Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical regulations, healthcare standards, and procurement compliance to ensure adherence to legal and ethical requirements.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior leadership.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with procurement software, ERP systems, and spend analytics tools to streamline processes and enhance decision-making.
