About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Engineering to lead the engineering department at the InterContinental Jeddah, a premier luxury hotel under the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) brand. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all engineering operations, ensuring the highest standards of facility maintenance, sustainability, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with the hotel’s long-term goals, focusing on innovation, cost optimization, and sustainability initiatives.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all hotel facilities, including HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, plumbing, and fire safety systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and IHG standards.
• Budget Oversight: Manage the engineering department’s budget, including capital expenditures, operational costs, and resource allocation, while identifying opportunities for efficiency gains.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainability programs, such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and green certifications, to align with IHG’s corporate responsibility commitments.
• Guest Experience Enhancement: Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations, addressing guest concerns promptly and maintaining the hotel’s reputation for excellence.
• Vendor and Contract Management: Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular audits and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facility Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the hospitality or luxury hotel industry.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and mechanical engineering, fire safety protocols, and building automation systems.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Certifications: Valid engineering license or certification relevant to the region is preferred.
