Completion & Well Intervention Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Completion & Well Intervention Engineer to join our dynamic team at Schlumberger in Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing completion and well intervention operations to enhance hydrocarbon recovery and ensure operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Well Completion Design: Develop and implement innovative well completion strategies, including casing design, perforating, and sand control measures, to maximize production potential while ensuring well integrity and longevity.
• Intervention Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute well intervention operations, such as coiled tubing, slickline, and wireline interventions, to address production challenges and optimize well performance.
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical guidance to field teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency throughout all phases of completion and intervention activities.
• Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex well issues, including production decline, mechanical failures, or formation damage, by applying advanced engineering principles and innovative solutions.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze operational data, performance metrics, and well logs to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to enhance well productivity and reduce downtime.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with geologists, reservoir engineers, and field personnel to align completion and intervention strategies with broader asset development goals, ensuring seamless integration of technical and operational objectives.
• Safety & Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees or certifications in well intervention or completion engineering are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in well completion and intervention operations, with a proven track record in designing and executing complex well interventions in onshore or offshore environments.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of completion tools, intervention techniques, and industry software (e.g., WellCat, StressCheck, or similar platforms). Familiarity with API and ISO standards for well design and intervention is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret well data, assess risks, and develop data-driven solutions to optimize well performance.
• Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in well control (e.g., IWCF or IADC) and completion/intervention operations are required. Additional certifications in HSE management are a plus.
