Key Responsibilities

In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of engineering projects, ensuring their successful execution while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Develop talent through coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
• Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, from conceptualization to completion. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
• Strategic Planning and Innovation: Collaborate with senior leadership to align engineering initiatives with KAUST’s long-term goals. Identify opportunities for technological advancements, process improvements, and sustainable solutions that enhance the university’s operational and research capabilities.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with academic departments, research labs, and external partners to integrate engineering solutions that support KAUST’s mission. Facilitate seamless communication between technical teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared objectives.
• Resource and Budget Management: Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and funding, to optimize project outcomes. Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all engineering activities comply with local, national, and international regulations, as well as KAUST’s internal policies. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to safeguard personnel, assets, and the university’s reputation.
• Quality Assurance and Safety: Uphold rigorous standards for quality control and workplace safety. Implement best practices in engineering processes and maintain a culture of safety awareness across all operations.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a passion for innovation. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required; an advanced degree (master’s or Ph.D.) is highly desirable.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role. Experience in a research-intensive or academic environment is a strong plus.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of engineering principles, methodologies, and industry best practices. Familiarity with project management tools, engineering software, and compliance frameworks is essential.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and drive performance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
