Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee our engineering teams at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for a range of strategic and operational duties, including:

• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability. Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent.
• Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Utilize agile methodologies and best practices to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
• Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and expertise to resolve complex engineering challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cutting-edge technologies and solutions that drive KAUST’s research and development initiatives.
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term engineering strategies that support KAUST’s goals. Align engineering initiatives with organizational objectives to maximize impact and sustainability.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between engineering teams, senior leadership, and external partners to ensure seamless communication and alignment of priorities. Represent the engineering function in high-level discussions and decision-making processes.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures to ensure all engineering deliverables meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Promote a culture of safety, sustainability, and ethical engineering practices.
• Innovation and Research: Champion a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation, research, and the adoption of emerging technologies. Support KAUST’s commitment to pioneering breakthroughs in science and engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D.) is highly desirable.
• At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in engineering, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Strong technical expertise in a specialized engineering discipline, coupled with a broad understanding of interdisciplinary engineering principles.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated ability to foster innovation, drive continuous improvement, and adapt to evolving technological landscapes.
• Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and best practices in engineering management.
• Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Six Sigma, is a plus.
