Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties, including but not limited to:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and reconciliations are performed promptly. Identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development, monitoring, and analysis of budgets and financial forecasts. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, manage tax audits, and liaise with tax authorities as required. Stay updated on changes in tax laws to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
• Internal Controls and Audit Support: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and address any findings or recommendations.
• Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and profitability assessments. Present actionable insights to senior management to drive operational efficiency and growth.
• Team Leadership and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and executive leadership, to align financial strategies with business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor on financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role. Experience in the engineering, construction, or industrial sectors is a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in financial modeling and data analysis. Familiarity with ERP systems is advantageous.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights for stakeholders.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Ethical Standards: Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and integrity in all financial practices. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
