Operations Systems Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Systems Specialist to drive operational excellence within our warehouse and distribution center environments. This pivotal role serves as the primary bridge between warehouse operations and information technology, ensuring seamless system functionality, optimal user adoption, data integrity, and ongoing process enhancements. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise and operational insight to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of our Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• System Optimization and Support: Provide expert-level support for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and associated modules, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability of critical operational systems.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between warehouse operations teams and IT, facilitating clear communication, aligning system capabilities with operational needs, and driving collaborative solutions to enhance productivity.
• Data Management and Reporting: Leverage advanced tools such as Power BI and SQL to develop, maintain, and analyze operational reports, dashboards, and performance metrics. Utilize data-driven insights to identify trends, diagnose issues, and recommend improvements.
• User Training and Adoption: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs to ensure end users are proficient in system functionalities. Foster a culture of continuous learning and support user adoption to maximize the return on technology investments.
• Process Improvement and Innovation: Apply process mapping, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to streamline operations, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance overall system performance.
• System Enhancements and Integrations: Participate in the evaluation, implementation, and integration of WMS enhancements, upgrades, or new technologies. Collaborate with IT and vendor partners to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve system-related issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and resolutions for future reference.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with an IT background will be given preference.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, with a strong understanding of operational workflows and challenges.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related modules. Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and SQL for database querying and analysis is essential.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions. Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset are critical.
• Communication and Training: Demonstrated experience in delivering technical training and supporting end users. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
• Process Improvement: Solid understanding of process mapping, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks is highly desirable.
• Adaptability and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and external partners.
• WMS Implementation Experience: Prior involvement in WMS implementations, enhancements, or integrations is a significant advantage and will be considered during the evaluation process.
