Position Overview

As a Workshop Supervisor at Al-Futtaim Automotive – BYD in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), you will play a pivotal role in leading the operational excellence of our state-of-the-art workshop. Reporting to senior management, you will oversee a dynamic team of technicians, ensuring the delivery of high-quality repairs and services in strict adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving workshop productivity, maintaining zero-defect quality, and safeguarding customer satisfaction while aligning with the dealership’s strategic objectives. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, operational acumen, and strong team leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Operations & Productivity Management

You will be responsible for the seamless execution of daily workshop operations, with a focus on maximizing efficiency and productivity. Your duties will include:

• Work Allocation & Workflow Optimization: Assign Repair Orders (ROs) to technicians based on their skill levels, the complexity of the task, and current workload to ensure optimal labour utilization and productivity.
• Real-Time Monitoring & Bottleneck Resolution: Continuously track work-in-progress (WIP) to identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, ensuring that promised delivery times are consistently met.
• OEM Compliance & Process Adherence: Ensure that all technicians strictly follow OEM repair manuals, approved diagnostic procedures, and dealership standard operating processes for every job, thereby maintaining high-quality standards.
• KPI Tracking & Performance Management: Drive workshop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, efficiency, labour utilization, and technician performance, aligning them with monthly operational targets to enhance overall workshop performance.
• Resource Optimization: Strategically manage bay usage, technician allocation, and service turnaround times to optimize workshop flow and resource utilization.

Quality Assurance & Technical Leadership

Your role will be critical in upholding the highest standards of repair quality and technical excellence. This includes:

• Final Quality Inspections: Conduct thorough final quality inspections on all completed repairs prior to vehicle release to eliminate repeat repairs, customer comebacks, and warranty risks.
• Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions: Investigate technical failures, repeat repairs, and customer complaints to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, including targeted coaching for technicians.
• Technical Standards Enforcement: Ensure the proper usage of Special Service Tools (SSTs), diagnostic equipment, calibration systems, and OEM-approved repair methods across the workshop team.
• Adherence to Technical Updates: Monitor and enforce compliance with technical service bulletins (TSBs), recall procedures, and manufacturer technical updates to maintain alignment with evolving industry standards.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

As a people leader, you will be responsible for nurturing a high-performing and motivated team of technicians, including Electrical Technicians and PDI Technicians. Your responsibilities will encompass:

• Team Supervision & Mentorship: Provide daily supervision, mentorship, and guidance to your team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Skill Development & Training: Identify technical skill gaps within the team and collaborate with Technical Trainers to coordinate OEM certification programs and internal development initiatives, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of industry advancements.
• Performance Management: Conduct daily workshop briefings to align the team on workload planning, safety updates, technical bulletins, and performance expectations. Additionally, support technician discipline, attendance management, performance reviews, and succession planning to build a resilient and skilled workforce.

Safety, Compliance & Operational Excellence

Your commitment to safety and compliance will be paramount in maintaining a secure and efficient workshop environment. This includes:

• HSE Standards Enforcement: Rigorously enforce all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across the workshop, including proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, safe lifting procedures, hazardous material handling, and equipment safety compliance.
• Housekeeping & 5S Compliance: Maintain workshop housekeeping standards in alignment with OEM dealer audit expectations and 5S operational principles to create a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
• Equipment & Certification Management: Ensure timely calibration schedules, workshop certifications, and equipment maintenance to uphold operational integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking a results-driven and technically proficient professional with a proven track record in workshop supervision within the automotive industry, preferably within a luxury or electric vehicle (EV) environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to operational excellence. Fluency in both English and Arabic is advantageous, along with relevant technical certifications and hands-on experience with BYD or similar EV brands.
