Environmental Officer

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental Officer to join our team. Key Responsibilities

• Environmental Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and disseminate environmental programs that integrate sustainable development principles. Stay informed about international advancements in environmental best practices to ensure our operations remain at the forefront of sustainability.
• Environmental Management & Compliance: Oversee all environmental matters for assigned projects, yards, and facilities. This includes developing and enforcing environmental requirements, implementing the Environment Management Plan (EMP), and supporting the creation of the project’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategy. Serve as a key liaison for environmental compliance and reporting.
• Impact Assessment & Risk Mitigation: Monitor the operational impact on the natural environment, identify potential risks, and develop adaptive management strategies to minimize negative effects. Conduct thorough Environment Aspects and Impacts Analysis (EIA) for all working sites to ensure proactive risk management.
• Sustainability Enhancement: Recommend and implement tools and methodologies to improve environmental performance across air, water, land, noise, dust, waste, and process management. Continuously evaluate and refine operational processes to achieve continual improvement in environmental outcomes.
• Regulatory & Organizational Compliance: Ensure adherence to all organizational policies, legislative requirements, and industry standards. Collaborate with the HSE Department to review and evaluate environmental objectives and targets, proposing actionable strategies for effective implementation.
• Training & Awareness Development: Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives across all operations. Design and conduct environmental training programs to cultivate a positive attitude toward environmental stewardship among employees and workers. Provide HSE training to reinforce best practices and compliance.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting: Assist in preparing service proposals, tender documents, and project bidding materials with a focus on environmental sustainability. Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with environmental objectives and report on progress toward set targets. Amend proposals and implementations as needed to meet evolving regulatory and organizational demands.
• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate environmental objectives and targets regularly to drive continual improvement. Collaborate with the Head of HSE or Project HSE Manager to discuss and refine environmental strategies, ensuring they are effectively integrated into all operations.

Qualifications & Competencies

Ideal candidates will possess a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with relevant certifications in environmental management or sustainability. A minimum of [X] years of experience in environmental roles, preferably within [industry/sector], is required. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex environmental concepts effectively are essential.
