Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Review and Design Oversight: Conduct thorough reviews of technical submittals, protection documents, and drawings. Approve protection-related schematics and ensure alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
• Protection System Coordination: Perform advanced protection coordination studies to optimize system performance and maintain grid reliability. Develop and validate protection schemes that mitigate risks and enhance operational resilience.
• Testing and Commissioning Leadership: Lead the end-to-end testing and commissioning of protection relays, control systems, and associated infrastructure. Ensure that all components meet stringent performance criteria and regulatory requirements.
• Quality Assurance and Validation: Oversee the verification of wiring integrity, logic schemes, interlocking mechanisms, and tripping circuits. Implement rigorous quality control processes to identify and resolve discrepancies before system activation.
• Project Supervision: Provide technical supervision and guidance throughout the testing and commissioning phases, ensuring adherence to project timelines, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between internal teams, external utilities, grid operators, consultants, and contractors. Facilitate seamless communication to align objectives, resolve technical challenges, and ensure project success.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, commissioning documentation, and as-built drawings. Maintain accurate records to support audits, future maintenance, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in electrical protection engineering, with a proven track record in protection relay configuration, coordination, and substation systems.
• In-depth knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards, as well as familiarity with local utility requirements and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and implement effective solutions.
