The Role of Assistant Head Nurse
As a vital member of our nursing leadership team, the Assistant Head Nurse plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of our dialysis clinics. This position supports the Head Nurse in overseeing staff management, maintaining clinical standards, and upholding patient safety across all shifts. The role is instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence, where professional development, quality assurance, and patient-centered care are prioritized. The Assistant Head Nurse will work closely with the Head Nurse, clinic staff, mentors, and the Country Nursing Manager to drive operational success and maintain Diaverum’s True Care culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Staff Management: Assist in the selection, scheduling, and orientation of new employees, ensuring a smooth onboarding process and alignment with clinic standards.
- Clinical Supervision: Conduct rounds and quality assurance projects to monitor patient care, safety, and cleanliness standards. Evaluate equipment functionality and address any deficiencies promptly.
- Quality and Safety: Support the implementation of audit action plans and risk management initiatives to mitigate potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Staff Development: Identify learning needs within the team and facilitate ongoing education to enhance clinical competencies and professional growth.
- Communication and Leadership: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Head Nurse, providing insights and recommendations on staff performance, disciplinary actions, and operational improvements. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary medical teams, including physicians, dietitians, and social workers, to deliver holistic patient care.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We seek a dynamic and compassionate leader with a strong clinical background and a passion for nursing excellence. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Certifications: Registered Nurse with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in dialysis nursing and clinical leadership, with a track record of supervising or mentoring staff.
