Packing Specialist

Position Overview

Tuwaiq Casting & Forging is currently seeking a highly motivated and operationally driven Packing Specialist to join our Production Control Department. Reporting directly to the Production Control Manager, this critical role is responsible for overseeing all packing operations for finished customer products at our state-of-the-art facility. The Packing Specialist will ensure that finished goods are efficiently and accurately packed, labeled, and prepared for shipment in strict accordance with company standards and customer specifications. Additionally, the role demands a commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and highly productive packing environment to support the company’s operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The Packing Specialist will play a pivotal role in the production workflow and will be tasked with the following core responsibilities:

• Production & Workflow Management:
  • Develop clear and comprehensive work instructions for packing personnel to ensure consistency and efficiency in operations.
  • Plan and schedule packing operations to align with production deadlines and shipping schedules, ensuring timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor workflow in real-time, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize packing efficiency and throughput.
  • Ensure strict adherence to production schedules while maintaining consistent and high-quality packing output.
• Quality Control & Accuracy:
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality standards for all packing processes and materials to ensure product integrity.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify proper packaging, accurate labeling, and safe handling of finished goods.
  • Monitor compliance with both company and customer-specific packaging requirements to prevent discrepancies and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Implement quality control measures to minimize errors in order fulfillment and reduce the risk of returns or complaints.
• Personnel Management:
  • Supervise, train, and motivate a team of packing shop personnel, including packers, material handlers, and other staff members.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support employee development initiatives.
  • Manage employee schedules, approve time-off requests, and ensure optimal staffing levels to meet operational demands.
  • Foster a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment to enhance team productivity and morale.
• Material Management & Inventory:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of essential packing materials, including boxes, tape, labels, and protective packaging.
  • Place timely and cost-effective orders for packing materials, ensuring availability without excess stock or waste.
  • Track material usage, identify opportunities to minimize waste, and ensure proper storage and handling of all packing supplies.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations and established procedures within the packing shop to protect personnel and assets.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide comprehensive safety training for all department personnel, emphasizing the importance of accident prevention and regulatory adherence.
• Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the packing operations.
  • Evaluate emerging packing technologies and equipment for potential adoption to modernize and streamline processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices in packaging and shipping to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
• Communication & Collaboration:
  • Serve as a liaison between the packing shop and other departments, including production, shipping, and customer service.
  • Provide regular updates to the management team on packing shop performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all packing activities, material usage, and inventory transactions.
  • Generate and submit regular reports on key packaging metrics, performance indicators, and departmental KPIs.
• Cost Control:
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives related to packing materials and operational processes.
  • Monitor departmental expenditures closely to ensure financial efficiency and adherence to budgetary constraints.

Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:

• Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a packing or warehouse environment, with a proven track record in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Direct experience in packing operations within the heavy metals industry is essential to ensure familiarity with industry-specific requirements and challenges.
