Steel Inspection Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Steel Inspection Engineer to join our dynamic team at Lucky Fabricators Steel Construction FZE LLC in Riyadh. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in all steel fabrication and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in steel inspection methodologies, a commitment to precision, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of steel structures, components, and fabrication processes to verify compliance with international standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. Identify defects, deviations, or non-conformities and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, measurements, and photographic evidence. Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and compliance documentation to support audit trails and project deliverables.
• Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure seamless integration of inspection protocols into project workflows. Provide guidance on best practices for steel fabrication, welding, and assembly to enhance overall project quality.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all steel structures and components adhere to local and international codes, such as AWS, AISC, ISO, and EN standards. Promote a culture of safety by identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures during inspection activities.
• Testing and Certification: Coordinate and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and radiographic testing (RT), to validate the integrity of steel components. Verify that all materials and processes meet certification requirements for structural integrity and performance.
• Problem-Solving: Analyze complex technical issues related to steel fabrication and propose practical solutions to address structural deficiencies, material defects, or fabrication errors. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely project completion.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry advancements, emerging technologies, and evolving standards in steel inspection. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall project outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. A certification in steel inspection (e.g., AWS CWI, CSWIP, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in steel inspection, preferably within the construction or fabrication industry. Experience with large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or commercial projects is a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of steel fabrication processes, welding techniques, and inspection methodologies. Familiarity with NDT methods, metallurgical analysis, and quality control software is essential.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in welding inspection, NDT, or structural steel inspection are preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications is required.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and safety.
