Rolling Stock Technician

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine and corrective maintenance on rolling stock, including locomotives, passenger cars, and freight wagons, to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Diagnostic Testing: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions.
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of rolling stock assets.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards related to rolling stock maintenance, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in compliance with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to optimize rolling stock performance, address technical challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to breakdowns or operational issues, providing on-site support to restore functionality and minimize disruptions to service.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Diploma or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in rolling stock maintenance, repair, or a related field within the railway industry.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of rolling stock systems, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software is essential.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in rolling stock maintenance, safety protocols, or related areas are highly desirable.
• Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop innovative solutions, and implement corrective actions efficiently.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
