Accountant-Operations (Saudi Only)

Position Overview

Le Méridien in Saudi Arabia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant-Operations to join our dynamic finance team. This role is exclusively available for candidates based in Saudi Arabia and will play a pivotal part in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations while ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in operational accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive financial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Operational Accounting: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting principles.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Collaborate with department heads to align financial plans with operational goals and track performance against targets.
• Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements, including Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) guidelines and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and implement best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. Recommend and deploy technological solutions to streamline accounting operations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with operations, procurement, human resources, and senior management teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Serve as a trusted advisor on financial matters impacting daily operations.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, including Value Added Tax (VAT) and other applicable taxes in accordance with Saudi tax laws. Liaise with tax authorities as needed to resolve queries or discrepancies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in an operational accounting role within the hospitality, service, or corporate sector. Experience in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic. Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
• Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Saudi accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. Familiarity with IFRS and local labor laws is advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
