Role Overview
The Fraud Investigator plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of American Express Saudi Arabia’s operations by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating fraudulent activities that threaten customers and company assets. This position is pivotal in executing timely and thorough fraud investigations, from initial case identification to final resolution. The Fraud Investigator will gather and analyze evidence, conduct root cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective measures that strengthen fraud controls. Additionally, the role involves preparing detailed investigation reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying emerging fraud trends and sharing insights across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Fraud Investigation: Assist the Head of Fraud Investigation & Response in conducting comprehensive, end-to-end fraud investigations. Ensure cases are managed efficiently, investigated thoroughly, and resolved within established service level agreements.
- Case Management: Review fraud alerts, referrals, and customer complaints to assess the validity of suspected fraudulent activity. Collect evidence, document findings meticulously, and maintain accurate case records to support investigation outcomes.
- Evidence Collection & Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of transactional, customer, and system data to detect fraud patterns, identify root causes, and substantiate investigation conclusions. Utilize analytical tools and methodologies to uncover irregularities and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Conduct all investigations in strict adherence to internal policies, the Counter Fraud Fundamental Requirement framework, and applicable regulatory and legal requirements. Ensure compliance with local and international standards to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
- Investigation Reporting: Prepare detailed and objective investigation reports that document evidence, findings, conclusions, recommendations, and lessons learned. Ensure reports meet quality standards, internal policies, regulatory requirements, and legal expectations before submission to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Investigation Outcome Reporting: Develop and present clear, evidence-supported investigation outcome reports. Document conclusions, recommendations, and action plans in a manner that aligns with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Operations, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Information Security, to facilitate seamless fraud response and resolution. Engage with external parties, such as law enforcement or regulatory authorities, as required to support investigations and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Trend Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Analyze fraud trends and recurring issues to provide actionable insights that enhance fraud detection capabilities and improve investigative processes. Contribute to the development of proactive measures that reduce fraud risks and strengthen the company’s fraud prevention framework.
- Awareness & Knowledge Sharing: Support fraud awareness initiatives by disseminating investigation outcomes, emerging fraud typologies, and best practices across the organization. Foster a culture of vigilance and continuous learning to enhance the company’s collective ability to combat fraud.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in fraud investigations, financial crime investigations, forensic analysis, or a related discipline.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and derive actionable insights.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools, databases, and fraud detection software to conduct thorough investigations.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy and objectivity in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
