Opportunity: HSE Engineer for Prestigious Project in Riyadh
We are actively seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking HSE Engineer to join our Project Management Consultancy and Management (PMCM) team in Riyadh. This role is pivotal to the success of a high-profile project, where the successful candidate will play a central role in upholding and advancing the project’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. Key Responsibilities
The HSE Engineer will be entrusted with a range of critical responsibilities, including:
- Compliance Oversight: Monitor and enforce adherence to local and international HSE regulations, project-specific safety protocols, and industry best practices throughout all phases of construction.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Lead initiatives to cultivate a proactive safety mindset among all project stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel, through training, awareness campaigns, and engagement activities.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards, evaluate their impact, and implement effective control measures to mitigate risks before they escalate.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate HSE incidents, near-misses, and non-compliance events to determine root causes, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for HSE-related communications with regulatory bodies, ensuring that all documentation, permits, and inspections are completed in accordance with legal and project requirements.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs tailored to the needs of the project team, ensuring that all personnel are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely and responsibly.
- Environmental Stewardship: Oversee environmental management practices, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource conservation, to align with the project’s sustainability goals and regulatory obligations.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze HSE performance metrics, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to senior management to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- A bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in HSE management, preferably within the construction or oil and gas sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi Arabian HSE regulations, ISO standards, and international best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in HSE management systems, risk assessment tools, and incident reporting software.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
