Position Overview

Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research & Development / Mechanical Engineer to join our elite team in Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical components and subsystems for Patriot missile defense systems, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with engineering teams to create prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and analyze results to validate design integrity, durability, and functionality under real-world conditions.
• Technical Analysis & Simulation: Utilize advanced engineering tools and software (e.g., CAD, FEA, CFD) to perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analyses, optimizing designs for efficiency, weight reduction, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate mechanical solutions seamlessly into larger defense systems while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and compliance certificates, to meet industry and government regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve mechanical engineering challenges, providing timely and effective solutions to ensure system reliability and operational readiness.
• Project Management: Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet critical milestones and deliver high-quality solutions within budget and timeline constraints.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a strong academic background and hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on defense or aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving acumen, and a passion for advancing defense technology.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 2 years in defense, aerospace, or related industries. Experience with missile defense systems is highly desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of mechanical design principles, CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA), finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and simulation tools. Familiarity with industry standards such as MIL-SPEC, ISO, and ASME is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach to design optimization, failure analysis, and performance enhancement.
• Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluency in English is required; additional language proficiency is a plus.
• Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) are advantageous.
• Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, as required for defense-related projects.
