Network & Infrastructure Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Network & Infrastructure Specialist to architect, implement, secure, and maintain our comprehensive network and IT infrastructure. This pivotal, hands-on position requires full ownership of the environment, spanning from LAN and WAN architecture, Active Directory, and Exchange, to enterprise firewalls, cloud and hybrid platforms, and down to Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure and Commvault backup and recovery solutions. You will spearhead the transformation of our local network to align with ISO standards, serve as the primary troubleshooter for critical incidents, and collaborate closely with application, security, and business teams to ensure our services remain fast, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Architecture & Operations: Design, implement, and manage local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), including routing, switching, IP addressing, VLAN segmentation, and secure site-to-site connectivity with branches and external partners. Lead the redesign of our existing local network to optimize topology, cabling, addressing, and segmentation in accordance with industry best practices and ISO standards.
• Identity & Collaboration Systems: Administer Microsoft Active Directory, including domain and forest management, Group Policy, Organizational Unit (OU) design, replication, and trust relationships. Oversee Microsoft Exchange environments, handling mailboxes, mail flow, transport rules, anti-spam measures, and high-availability configurations.
• Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure: Evaluate infrastructure requirements for business applications and provision secure access rights in alignment with the principle of least privilege. Design, deploy, and manage workloads across cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including hybrid connectivity and seamless identity integration between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Security & Firewall Management: Serve as the organization’s firewall specialist, designing and administering next-generation firewalls (e.g., FortiGate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower). Configure security policies, NAT, IPS/IDS, web filtering, and secure remote access via VPN to safeguard critical assets.
• Backup, Recovery & Virtualization: Implement and maintain enterprise-grade backup and recovery solutions using Commvault, including backup and storage policies, deduplication, restore testing, and management of Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO). Deploy, administer, and optimize Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (Prism, AHV) and virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/Hyper-V), ensuring high availability and efficient capacity planning.
• Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to ISO standards, particularly ISO/IEC 27001, across all network and infrastructure operations. Support internal and external audits by maintaining comprehensive documentation and providing necessary evidence.
• Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Provide advanced Tier 2/3 troubleshooting for network, systems, cloud, and infrastructure incidents. Conduct root-cause analysis, implement permanent fixes, and minimize downtime through proactive monitoring and resolution.
• IT Service Management: Monitor performance and capacity using enterprise tools, manage incidents, problems, and changes in accordance with ITIL best practices, and coordinate with vendors and ISPs to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
• Documentation & Knowledge Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date infrastructure documentation, including network diagrams, IP plans, configuration baselines, runbooks, and standard operating procedures to ensure operational transparency and continuity.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network and infrastructure administration, with a proven track record in designing and operating end-to-end LAN/WAN solutions.
• Microsoft Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in administering Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange in production environments, including domain management, Group Policy, and mail flow configurations.
• Cloud Proficiency: Professional experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including hybrid cloud scenarios and identity integration.
• Security & Firewall Skills: Expert-level administration of enterprise next-generation firewalls, including Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto, or Cisco ASA/Firepower, with deep knowledge of security policies, IPS/IDS, and VPN configurations.
• Access Management: Strong understanding of application infrastructure requirements and expert-level skill in provisioning, governing, and reviewing access rights in compliance with security policies.
• Backup & Recovery: Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions, particularly Commvault, including policy design, deduplication, and restore testing.
• Virtualization & Hyperconvergence: Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (Prism, AHV) and virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V, including cluster management and high availability.
• Compliance & Auditing: Familiarity with ISO/IEC 27001 standards and the ability to support audits through meticulous documentation and evidence collection.
• Troubleshooting & ITIL: Advanced troubleshooting capabilities for complex network and infrastructure issues, along with experience in IT service management frameworks such as ITIL for incident, problem, and change management.
