Position Overview
Our esteemed client, a leading organization in the Pharmaceutical Biotech, Medical, or Life Sciences industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is a 12-month contract position with the potential for extension, offering a competitive monthly salary range of SAR 20,000 to SAR 25,000. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting within a multi-national corporate environment, with a preference for candidates with prior experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical sector. Proficiency in financial reporting, tax compliance, and enterprise systems such as SAP is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting the organization’s strategic objectives. Primary responsibilities include:
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Preparing and documenting high volumes of journal entries with minimal errors, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal policies. Managing statutory and corporate compliance requirements, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and cash flow forecasting.
- Month-End Close and Reconciliation: Leading the preparation of financial reports and statistics, maintaining and reconciling profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheet ledger accounts. Ensuring timely and accurate month-end close processes with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors, internal teams, and management, preparing analyses, schedules, and presentations to address inquiries and resolve routine accounting issues. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and disseminate accounting information.
- Process Improvement and Training: Establishing and maintaining efficient operating procedures in alignment with internal controls and company policies. Providing technical guidance and training to junior employees on accounting software, tools, and best practices.
- Ad Hoc Analyses: Conducting specialized financial analyses as required to support decision-making processes and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education and Certification: A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in a multi-national organization within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures, along with experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, accounts receivable/credit, and accounts payable. Proficiency in integrated enterprise systems, particularly SAP, and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is mandatory.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
