Lead Piping Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Piping Engineer to spearhead our piping discipline within a dynamic Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environment. This pivotal role demands a seasoned professional capable of leading single or multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives. Key Responsibilities

The Lead Piping Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities related to the piping discipline, from initial proposal and bidding phases through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This includes:

• Project Leadership and Coordination: Planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling all piping engineering activities to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Leading interdisciplinary coordination efforts to foster collaboration and team cohesion.
• Technical and Strategic Support: Providing expert technical guidance during construction and commissioning phases, addressing site-related queries, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Actively participating in progress review meetings, technical discussions, client engagements, and vendor interactions to drive project success.
• Procurement and Bidding Support: Collaborating with procurement teams to raise Material Requisitions (MR), conduct Technical Bid Clarifications/Evaluations (TBC/TBE), and draft Purchase Requisitions. Supporting the bidding team by preparing Requests for Quotation (RFQs), evaluating bids, and contributing to cost estimates.
• Deliverable Review and Quality Assurance: Reviewing and commenting on engineering deliverables, including General Engineering Specifications (GES) and other critical documents, to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Implementing value engineering practices, risk assessments, and constructability studies to optimize project outcomes.
• Customer Satisfaction and Company Representation: Ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality deliverables and proactive communication. Representing the company in a professional manner to enhance its reputation and build long-term client relationships.

Technical Expertise and Industry Knowledge

The Lead Piping Engineer must possess comprehensive knowledge of piping systems across various industries, including Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, and Water. Proficiency in the following areas is essential:

• Industry Standards and Codes: Sound command over Saudi Aramco, SABIC DEP, Royal Commission Standards, HCISS Standards, and international codes such as ASME, ANSI, API, JIS, CSA, NFPA, FM, and UL.
• Piping Design and Analysis: Expertise in Unit Plot Plan development, equipment layout design, piping plan layouts, isometrics, pipe support details, pipe flexibility analysis, stress analysis using tools like Caesar, and pipe wall thickness calculations. Familiarity with piping tie-in packages, including hot tap, cold tap, and golden joint methods.
• Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SPPID, SP3D, and the ability to extract piping bill of materials with full traceability from procurement to construction.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Ability to integrate process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, and field instrumentation knowledge to ensure seamless coordination and project delivery.
• 3D Modeling and Reviews: Active participation in 3D model reviews, both internally and with clients, to identify and resolve potential issues early in the project lifecycle.
• Safety and Risk Management: Commitment to safety studies and proactive participation in risk assessment and management workshops to mitigate project risks.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS, BE, or B Tech) from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in the Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, or Power industries, with prior involvement in EPC projects for reputed organizations such as Saudi Aramco, SABIC, or similar entities. Experience in pre-commissioning support is highly desirable.
