Medical Science Liaison – Contractor

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (Contractor) to join our dynamic team, serving as a pivotal bridge between Allergan’s Medical Affairs department and key stakeholders in the Medical Aesthetics portfolio. This role is instrumental in driving scientific excellence, fostering meaningful engagements with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), and contributing to the strategic development of medical and marketing initiatives. The successful candidate will operate as a non-promotional scientific resource, ensuring the dissemination of accurate, balanced, and up-to-date medical information to support Allergan’s initiatives across the Saudi Arabia and Middle East & Africa (MEA) regions.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Science Liaison will play a critical role in executing the Medical Affairs plan, with a focus on the following core responsibilities:

• Scientific Engagement: Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), HCPs, and medical institutions, to facilitate scientific exchange and education initiatives.
• Medical Strategy & Planning: Own and drive the engagement with KOLs, ensuring alignment with current and upcoming Medical Aesthetics portfolios and associated indications. Contribute to the development of brand strategies and tactical planning in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Marketing and Commercial departments.
• Scientific Education & Training: Lead and participate in scientific education and training programs across the Allergan Aesthetics portfolio, ensuring HCPs and ancillary healthcare professionals are informed about current and future therapies in development or commercialized by Allergan.
• Field Activities & Advisory Boards: Conduct field visits with key physicians and stakeholders, organize advisory board meetings, and facilitate clinical trials to gather insights and support medical research initiatives.
• Compliance & Pharmacovigilance: Ensure adherence to pharmacovigilance and compliance regulations, maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and ethical conduct in all interactions and communications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to identify and address scientific and technical training needs, ensuring alignment with the broader Medical Affairs and Commercial strategies.
• Thought Leadership: Identify, develop, and engage with thought leaders to enhance Allergan’s scientific reputation and influence in the Medical Aesthetics therapeutic area.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following educational and professional criteria:

• Educational Background: A medical degree (MD) or an advanced degree in a scientific discipline (PhD) is strongly preferred. Candidates with a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Pharmacy) will be considered, provided they possess relevant work experience.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong preference for candidates with specialized therapeutic area expertise in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, or Medical Aesthetics. Experience in Medical Affairs, including advisory board management, publication development, and scientific exchange activities, is highly desirable.
• Market & Cultural Understanding: Demonstrated understanding of the local market dynamics in Saudi Arabia and the broader MEA region, along with experience in establishing influential relationships with KOLs and thought leaders.
• Internal Candidates: For internal applicants, a minimum of 2 years of experience with Abbvie and a proven track record of success are required.
• Technical & Soft Skills: Proficiency in computer skills, exceptional presentation and interpersonal communication abilities, strategic thinking, and the capacity to engage HCPs and medical institutions effectively. Fluency in English (verbal and written) is essential, and additional language proficiency is a plus.

This contract-based position is based in Riyadh, with a requirement for regular travel to support business activities across the region.
