Key Responsibilities

The Principal Piping Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and executing piping engineering activities, from conceptual design to detailed engineering and construction support. Your core duties will include:

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to piping engineering teams, ensuring adherence to industry standards, codes, and best practices. Lead the development of piping system designs, specifications, and deliverables in compliance with ASME, API, and other relevant codes.
• Project Execution: Take ownership of piping engineering aspects of large-scale projects, including feasibility studies, FEED (Front-End Engineering Design), detailed engineering, and construction support. Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, civil, and structural engineers, to ensure seamless integration of piping systems within overall project scope.
• Innovation and Optimization: Drive continuous improvement by evaluating and implementing advanced piping technologies, materials, and methodologies to enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to propose innovative solutions that add value to client projects.
• Client Engagement: Act as a primary technical liaison with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Present engineering solutions, address technical queries, and ensure alignment with client expectations and project objectives. Foster strong relationships to build trust and long-term partnerships.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all piping designs and installations comply with local and international safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Champion a culture of safety and sustainability, embedding these principles into every aspect of the engineering process.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in piping systems and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project delays, cost overruns, and operational disruptions. Conduct thorough reviews and audits to validate design integrity and reliability.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in piping engineering, with at least 5 years in a principal or leadership role. Proven track record in managing complex piping projects within the oil, gas, or energy sectors is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of piping design software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, CAESAR II) and familiarity with industry standards such as ASME B31.3, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 650, and API 620. Experience with pressure vessel and tank design is a plus.
• Leadership and Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
• Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving engineering challenges. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.
• Cultural Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to varying project requirements in dynamic settings. Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is desirable but not essential.
