Position Overview

PTC Therapeutics, a global biopharmaceutical leader, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Lead based in Riyadh to join our dynamic team. With over 25 years of dedication to transforming the lives of patients with rare diseases, PTC is committed to extending life’s meaningful moments for children and adults facing these challenges. We foster an inclusive culture where diversity is celebrated, and every team member is empowered to contribute to our mission of delivering life-changing therapies.

As a key member of our Medical Affairs team, the MSL Lead will play a pivotal role in advancing PTC’s portfolio by engaging with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), academic institutions, and regulatory authorities. This contract-based position offers a unique opportunity to drive strategic initiatives, support early and accurate disease diagnosis, and ensure the safe and effective utilization of PTC’s therapies across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Medical Engagement: Act as the clinical and medical expert for PTC’s products, building long-term relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and academic centers through highly scientific discussions. Represent PTC at national and regional medical meetings, symposia, and scientific sessions, gathering insights and fostering professional connections.
  • Disease State Expertise: Provide clinical expertise in disease diagnosis, diagnostic methods, and strategic initiatives to address regional gaps in early and accurate disease recognition. Collaborate with the clinical science and diagnostics team to support PTC’s programs from clinical trials through commercialization.
  • Scientific Communication: Deliver fair-balanced, objective, and scientifically rigorous presentations, slide sets, abstracts, and posters to HCPs, payors, and patient organizations in response to unsolicited requests for information. Develop and design educational materials that align with regulatory guidelines and PTC’s therapeutic areas.
  • Advisory and Educational Initiatives: Identify, train, and manage speakers for advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs using approved materials. Organize and execute regional medical initiatives, such as advisory boards, to drive awareness and adoption of PTC’s therapies.
  • Market Insights and Feedback: Provide strategic input to management regarding alternative therapies, business development opportunities, and risks. Gather and summarize market dynamics, client feedback, and competitive intelligence to inform PTC’s commercial and medical strategies.
  • Regulatory and Stakeholder Relations: Establish and maintain successful relationships with health authorities, KOLs, HCPs, and academic institutions. Serve as a trusted resource for healthcare providers, ensuring they are equipped with the latest clinical and scientific information about PTC’s products and treatment areas.

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:

  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent degree, with a strong background in rare diseases, neurology, or related therapeutic areas.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical or medical affairs experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment, with a proven track record in medical liaison roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in disease state education, diagnostic methods, and clinical presentation, with the ability to address regional diagnosis gaps.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including KOLs, HCPs, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to develop and execute strategic medical initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region to attend medical meetings, symposia, and engage with healthcare professionals.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
