Mechanical Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team, responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational integrity of heavy-duty military mechanical systems, specifically the RSADF. This role demands a high level of technical expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance, with a focus on hydraulic, brake, and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability and performance of machinery and mechanical equipment by adhering to industry standards, operational manuals, and manufacturer specifications. Proficiency in using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment is essential to execute tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Repairs: Perform comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic, brake, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
• Engine Component Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and replace engine components as required, maintaining peak performance and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Technical Compliance: Adhere to mechanical drawings, operational manuals, and manufacturer specifications to ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory and industry standards.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of machinery and mechanical equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective measures proactively.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Utilize advanced mechanical troubleshooting techniques to diagnose system failures and determine the root cause of operational issues.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• System Integration: Demonstrate a strong understanding of the interface between different mechanical systems and components to ensure seamless operation and integration.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician, with a proven track record in maintaining and repairing heavy-duty mechanical systems.
• Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, engine operations, and hydraulic systems, along with expertise in mechanical drawings and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret technical diagrams, identify system interdependencies, and resolve complex mechanical issues efficiently.
• Proficiency in Tools and Instruments: Skilled in using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment to perform maintenance tasks with precision.
• Software Competency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
• Communication Skills: Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English, enabling clear and effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
