I&C Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced I&C (Instrumentation and Control) Engineer to join our Maintenance team. Reporting directly to the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our plant’s instrumentation and control systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, as well as overseeing critical outage and overhauling operations. This position demands a proactive approach to technical problem-solving, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance Planning and Execution: Under the guidance of the Section Head, assign and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of I&C equipment. Coordinate with the planning engineer to execute work orders efficiently through the CMMS (SAP) system, ensuring timely completion and adherence to technical specifications.
• Team Leadership and Coordination: Supervise and direct the activities of maintenance personnel, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Maintain accurate records, prepare detailed reports, and compose correspondence to communicate the status of work, identify corrective actions, and ensure compliance with maintenance plans.
• Procurement and Strategic Planning: Evaluate technical quotations from the purchase department, recommend cost-effective solutions, and prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables while adhering to budgetary constraints. Ensure the availability of strategic spares to mitigate downtime and support maintenance requirements.
• Process Improvement and Compliance: Review and recommend enhancements to maintenance procedures and work instructions to improve efficiency and reliability. Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and organizational requirements, including Environmental Aspect-Impact assessments, Hazard Risk Assessments, and Integrated Management System (IMS) objectives.
• Training and Development: Identify competency gaps among subordinate personnel and implement targeted training programs. Conduct annual performance evaluations, provide on-the-job training to new employees, and assess their OJT performance to ensure continuous skill development.
• Safety and Risk Management: Identify, document, and control hazards within the assigned work area. Monitor operational controls, report deviations in the IMS, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Ensure the identification of root causes for non-conformances and deviations, and lead efforts to mitigate risks and enhance safety protocols.
• Emergency Response and Reporting: Serve as a key point of contact for reporting emergencies, incidents, and near misses. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective response strategies and prevent recurrence.
• Resource Optimization: Monitor and report on resource utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize waste. Provide necessary resources to support the effective implementation and sustenance of the IMS, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Job Specifications

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E) in Instrumentation and Control or a related field from a recognized college or university is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant disciplines are advantageous.

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience in the field of I&C engineering, with a preference for candidates who have worked in operation and maintenance environments within power plants, reverse osmosis (RO) plants, or similar industrial settings. Hands-on experience with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in using SAP as an end user for work order management and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management System (EMS) principles.
• Familiarity with applicable legal requirements, hazard risk assessments, and aspect-impact evaluations.
• Experience in managing HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) emergencies, spillage containment, and emission monitoring.
• Ability to investigate incidents, classify and dispose of waste, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Competency in using MS Outlook for professional correspondence and documentation.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Leadership abilities to guide and motivate a maintenance team, along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address technical challenges effectively.
