Teradata DBA Administrator & Hardware Support

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teradata DBA Administrator & Hardware Support Engineer to join our team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is a mid-to-senior level role, requiring 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Teradata database administration and platform support. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, monitoring, performance optimization, maintenance, and L2/L3 support of our Teradata Vantage platform, including its ecosystem components. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, offering a dynamic and challenging opportunity to contribute to the stability, security, and efficiency of enterprise-scale data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teradata DBA Administrator & Hardware Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our Teradata Vantage environment. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and operational tasks, including:

• Platform Administration & Configuration: Install, configure, and administer Teradata Vantage 16/17.x across IntelliFlex and VMware environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• System Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Utilize Teradata Viewpoint to monitor system health, query performance, and resource utilization. Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and workload management using TASM (Teradata Active System Management) to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
• Data Management & Integration: Support data migration, replication, and refresh activities using Data Mover. Configure and maintain QueryGrid for seamless cross-platform data access and integration.
• Backup, Recovery & Disaster Preparedness: Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes using Data Stream Utility and Business Continuity Manager (BCM) to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Security & Access Control: Administer database users, roles, permissions, and security controls to safeguard sensitive data and comply with organizational policies.
• Patch Management & Upgrades: Perform regular patching, upgrades, and platform maintenance to ensure compatibility, security, and adherence to best practices across the Teradata ecosystem.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide L2/L3 production and non-production support, diagnosing and resolving complex database, platform, and infrastructure issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.

Required Experience & Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and expertise:

• Teradata Expertise: 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in Teradata DBA administration and platform support, with a strong focus on Teradata Vantage 16/17.x.
• Ecosystem Proficiency: In-depth experience with Teradata Viewpoint, QueryGrid, Data Mover, Business Continuity Manager (BCM), Data Stream Utility, IntelliFlex, and VMware.
• Technical Competencies: Proficient in SQL, performance tuning, and workload management (TASM). Familiarity with Linux/Unix, shell scripting, REST APIs, CLIv2, and data integration technologies.
• Enterprise-Scale Support: Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale production environments, including troubleshooting complex infrastructure and database issues.
• Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and liaise with stakeholders across the organization.
